The Renaissance Theatre will offer a new series of REN-spiration Classroom sessions beginning the week of December 13th. The series will feature classes that are formatted as a two-week series of offerings, with participants meeting once a week for two weeks. Class sessions are scheduled during times that allow families the opportunity to explore the arts while accommodating holiday activities. The REN-spiration Classroom provides a variety of educational theatre activities designed with creativity in mind. The series, coordinated by Renaissance Resident Teaching Artist Dauphne Maloney, expanded its offerings to the community in a series of live “classes,” originally in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Based upon the popularity of its series of online classes, the Ren’s Education Department has continued with new series of classes for the fall, and into the winter.
Maloney hopes that the availability of online educational resources will offer opportunities to students, educators, and parents. “We continue to receive such a positive response to our arts education offerings as our students, teachers and educators have moved forward into the school year. The arts-focused REN-Spiration Classroom Initiative has served young people from throughout the North Central Ohio region and beyond, as they meet for arts-focused activities through our ‘virtual classroom’. By offering classes for students of a variety of ages, and accommodating school schedules, we’ve seen our online students return to attend additional class sessions. The remote platform has provided an even greater opportunity for participants to collaborate, and to forge new friendships, both around the corner and across the country. Our latest edition, with its shorter timeframe and holiday-themed materials, is just the thing to help ring in this festive season.”
REN-spiration Classroom sessions offer free classes for a variety of students of different ages and grade bands, from 3 years of age through twelfth grade.
Beginning December 1, interested parents and educators may visit www.rentickets.org/renspiration to register for a variety of sessions. Registration is free, and each session has a limited number of spots available. Information regarding any needed materials will be provided by Maloney prior to class sessions. All the material provided can be used by educators, as well as parents and students. Material for the website will be updated, and expanded upon, regularly to include new material and resources for other activities and creative exploration.
