The magnificent Artistic Jazz Orchestra (AJO) returns to bring a sparkling night of jazz and holiday spirit to the Renaissance Theatre on Saturday, December 2nd at 7:30 PM as they present “We Wish You a Jazzy Christmas!” Led by artistic director/founder Paul Martin, the jazz orchestra is joined by their fabulous vocalist Kelly Knowlton, a spectacular vocal ensemble, dancers from the Richland Academy of the Arts, and some magical Christmas surprises.

In the grand fashion of the great big bands, the AJO will give special treatment to such memorable Christmas favorites as “Jingle Bells”, “O Christmas Tree”, “Silent Night”, “White Christmas”, and so many more! You may hear classic Christmas arrangements as played by Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Les Brown, Glenn Miller, and Stan Kenton… just to name a few!

For over 30 years, Ashland native Paul Martin has led this amazing big band, the Artistic Jazz Orchestra (AJO). Originally organized to perform the music of the late great Stan Kenton, the AJO has built an impressive library of music dedicated to all things big band jazz, especially the music of the 1940s through the 60s. The band, over the last three decades, has developed into a unique group of musicians that know each other personally and musically—one might consider what they hear on stage to be much like a musical family, and most certainly a family having a lot of fun as they do what they do!
