Don’t miss Classical Mansfield, a free concert presented by the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra. Directed by Octavio Más-Arocas, this community event brings together over 55 musicians for an extraordinary symphonic experience.
The program features an engaging mix of classical and contemporary works, including Katahj Copley’s “Gasoline Rainbows” and Sergei Prokofiev’s “Violin Concerto No. 2”, performed by guest violinist Yvonne Lam. The second half of the program showcases the vibrant and playful music of Dmitri Shostakovich, including “Tahiti-Trot (Tea for Two)” and selections from his “Suite for Variety Orchestra No. 1”.

About our Guest Soloist
Grammy Award-winning violinist Yvonne Lam has appeared as soloist with such renowned orchestras as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, the Pacific Symphony, the Auckland Philharmonia, and the American Youth Symphony. She was the violinist/violist and Co-Artistic Director of contemporary super-ensemble Eighth Blackbird for eight years, commissioning and premiering over a hundred works by composers including Steve Reich, David Lang, Nico Muhly, Nathalie Joachim, and Bryce Dessner. Her debut solo album, Watch Over Us, features works for solo violin and electronic track, and she has appeared as a guest performer on dozens of albums featuring new music. In addition to winning top prizes at international competitions including the Michael Hill World Violin Competition, the Liana Issakadze Violin Competition, and the Holland-America Music Society Competition, Ms. Lam served three seasons as Assistant Concertmaster of the Washington National Opera Orchestra. Ms. Lam is now an Associate Professor of Violin and Coordinator of Chamber Music at Michigan State University. She received her Bachelor of Music from the Curtis Institute of Music and her Master of Music from the Juilliard School.

Under the creative direction of Octavio Más-Arocas, the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra features over 55 talented musicians from Mansfield, Ohio and the greater Ohio region.
