Announcing our 2017-2018 Season!

by Colleen Cook

We have SUCH an incredible 2017-2018 Season Lineup! We've been literally bursting to tell you about it, and last night, we had the opportunity to spill the beans on the season!

It's a big year for the Renaissance Theatre, in fact, it's our 90th Anniversary year. This January will mark 90 years since the historic Ohio Theatre opened in a blizzard to a sold out house on January 18, 1928. We are remarkably grateful to be here 90 years later, fully-restored and fully-operational, and still selling out on the regular to Mansfield's incredible audiences.

We have FORTY shows in our 17-18 season, truly something for everyone. So, here's the rundown:

  1. You guys will break my bank account this year! I want to come to everything!

    1. Sounds like you need a subscription! You’ll have the most savings if that’s how you purchase!

  2. Are we ever going to see the original Nutcracker Ballet again. This show was a Christmas tradition for me for over 15 years until 2-3 years ago when it was changed to the 1940’s edition. The original is missed.

    1. Cynthia, thanks for the feedback. The production you’re referring to was a rental for our theatre from the Ashland Regional Ballet. They decided to move their production to the Hugo Young Theatre in Ashland, rather than keeping it at the Renaissance – a decision that was not within our control, but one we understand. The 1940s Nutcracker is a partnership with Neos Dance Theatre, good friends of our organization and artists we sincerely respect. Each season, we make our programming decisions for the next year, and do not know what the next seasons will bring. But, we hope this information enlightens your understanding a bit.
