Seussical Jr. (Sensory-Friendly) will begin MY Theatre’s sixth season of sensory-friendly performances of youth theatre musicals for families with children and adults on the autism-spectrum and other developmental disabilities. This production is best suited for those audience members who are 12 years of age and older, and their families; but audience members of any age may attend.

MY Theatre’s Sensory-Friendly performances began with Shrek: The Musical in 2017, and the program has continued to engage and excite audience members of all ages. Musicals are performed in a friendly, supportive environment with slight adjustments to the production, including the reduction of any jarring sounds or lights focused into the audience area. Within the theatre, there is a quiet and play area, if family members need to leave their seats during the performance. For these special performances, no-cost, limited seating is available to individuals and families with developmental disabilities.

About The Show

With music, book, and lyrics by Tony Award winners Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, Seussical, Jr. features Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and everyone’s favorite Dr. Seuss characters, as they’re brought to life onstage in this delightful and energetic musical extravaganza. The Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!
