MY Theatre: Godspell (Sensory-Friendly Version)
Thursday, March 25, 2021 at 6:30 PM
March 25, 2021 @ 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm
Godspell (Sensory-Friendly) will close MY Theatre’s fifth season of sensory-friendly performances of youth theatre musicals for families with children and adults on the autism-spectrum and other developmental disabilities. This production is best suited for those audience members who are 12 years of age and older, and their families; but audience members of any age may attend. MY Theatre’s Sensory-Friendly performances began with Shrek, The Musical in 2017, and the program has continued to engage and excite audience members of all ages. Musicals are performed in a friendly, supportive environment with slight adjustments to the production, including the reduction of any jarring sounds or lights focused into the audience area. Within the theatre, there is a quiet and play area, if family members need to leave their seats during the performance. For these special performances, no-cost, limited seating is available to individuals and families with developmental disabilities. For additional information regarding our Sensory-Friendly Performances, please contact Dauphne Maloney, 419-522-2726, ext. 212, or dauphne@mansfieldtickets.com.
An iconic hit Broadway musical, Godspell was the first major musical theatre offering from 3-time Grammy and Academy Award winner Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Children of Eden); and it took the world by storm. Using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques, and a hefty dose of comic timing, a small group of people help Jesus Christ tell different parables. With an eclectic blend of songs ranging in style from pop to vaudeville, and led by the international hit, “Day By Day,” the story of Jesus’ messages of kindness, tolerance, and love come vibrantly to life. Boasting a score with chart topping songs, a book by a visionary playwright (John-Michael Tebelak), and a feature film, Godspell is a sensation that continues to touch audiences.
Godspell will be directed by Dauphne Maloney, with musical direction by Brian K. Nabors.
